Hi, I’m Dionne

I grew up in the 1970’s. My grandparents and great grandparents had vegetable gardens that we ate from every day. My mom baked her own bread, made her own yogurt, and did not buy “sugary” cereal. My sister and I played outside as long as the daylight lasted. As a result, I developed healthy habits early on. I lived in Europe for several years and my parents immersed us in the culture. We ate a Mediterranean diet (consistently ranked among the best diets for overall health) just like the locals. Our main method of transportation was walking — lots of walking! We were healthy and happy.

Fast forward to my adult years. Stress and bad eating habits in my twenties and thirties led me to nutrition research for my own well-being. I became fascinated with the link between nutrition and wellness. I felt better once I improved the quality of my diet and began exercising. That’s when I made the decision help others overcome similar struggles through good nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices.

Today I feel better and am healthier than I have been since the long-gone days of the 1970’s. I know how hard it is because I have struggled myself. I have seen the effects of poor nutrition and the benefits of good habits. It is my past experiences with nutrition and health that greatly influenced my decision to become a registered dietitian.
A Few Things You May Not Know About Me:
As soon as my feet hit the floor in the morning, I’m ready for breakfast. It’s been that way since I was a little girl.
A Few Things You May Not Know About Me:
Although I’m an early riser, I’m not a morning person. I’m not awake until I’ve had my coffee!
A Few Things You May Not Know About Me:
I have always loved a variety of music genres, but my all-time favorites are Big Band and Jazz. I even played the clarinet when I was younger.
A Few Things You May Not Know About Me:
I’m a huge Poirot fan and love to read cozy mysteries.
A Few Things You May Not Know About Me:

I was always a straight “A” student but as early as Kindergarten, my teachers noted on my report cards, “Dionne needs to refrain from talking”. Oops!

A Few Things You May Not Know About Me:
I exercise daily because it makes me feel good and I know it’s good for me. I enjoy outdoor group workouts and running. My husband and I are now training for our first half marathon!
A Few Things You May Not Know About Me:

Cancer is something I take very seriously. Our family has been impacted, and I’ve had my own skin cancer scare. As a result, I am a huge advocate of proper sun protection whenever I’m outside, especially at the beach!

A Few Things You May Not Know About Me:

My husband & I love to travel. Although our favorite vacations involve beach destinations, we’ve recently discovered international destinations can be just as fun!
